Another Iraq Success As Abu Omar al-Baghdadi Is Captured; Prime Minister Proves Success…

While there have been a multitude of successes throughout Iraq, nothing shows the abilities of the U.S. and Iraqi forces efforts like the capture of Al Qaeda in Iraq’s leader, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi. The capture came during a raid in Abu Ghrai, an area on the outskirts of Baghdad. A terrorist that was captured within was cooperating with authorities and outlined that they were traveling to a terrorist conference and that the person indeed was the organization’s leader. It’s worth noting that the U.S. forces didn’t verify this successful capture. However, it must be understood that U.S. military officials tend to keep from making such announcements as of late in an attempt not to provoke more violence as an immediate retaliation for their actions. Another amazing feat today was that the Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri Maliki, took to the streets for the first time. He was seen near police and military check-points talking with Iraqi citizens, kissing and joking with Iraqi children, and shaking the hands of Iraqi military members. In reference to the upcoming conference between Iraq, Iran, Syria, and the United States, Malaki then traveled to a power plant where he declared that “the conference is proof that the situation in Baghdad is getting back to normal and that the political process is strong and stable.” It’s apparent that by adding more troops to allow for the clearing out of terrorists and the setting up of new checkpoints within Baghdad was a wise move. Securing the country, and primarily it’s capital, and keeping it secure for the remainder of the U.S. military’s presence will only help to continue the Iraqi governments stabilization, strengthening of the Iraqi military, and the success that the democratic nation will continue to thrive when the supporting nations remove their security forces.

Prime Minister Malaki has had a long and hard struggle to stabilize Iraq. The recent successes of Malaki, the Iraqi military, and the U.S. military are owed credit by the Liberals and the Mainstream Media. However, credit being given where it’s due can only happen if that success bolsters the anti-American position of the Liberals and the media… Sad isn’t it?
