Back at work

I didn’t figure that I could bail out for a second day, so I came in to work; I’m the only one here. The yard is snow covered, maybe as much as two feet deep. I took a couple of pictures, but can’t upload them until I get back home.

When I got dressed this morning, I said to myself, “Self, why don’t you walk over to North Street (the main drag on my side of town) to see what the roads are like.” And when I got there, I was pleased: North Street was mostly clear, no problems driving.

Well, North Street was the only thing that was clear. US 209, which is normally well taken care of in a snow storm, was covered, though it’s obvious that cinders or sand had been put down along with the salt: I have two big hills to climb — and one to descend — on 209 on the way to work, and didn’t slip at all. The Borough of Lehighton was a mess, as usual, but PA 248, which is also normally well cared for, was snow covered as well.

At any rate, I made it in safely. Now I get to spend a lot of the day plowing the snow. :(

Green Jobs Stupidity

Tom Emerson forwarded the Wall Street Journal’s European editorial opinion, which recounts the readily available information regarding the wasteful and feckless efforts of the Spanish and German governments to create green jobs. (more…)
